Welcome To Our Temple Phothivihan There are a amazing temples in the Tumpat district. Located at Kampung Jambu, the Wat Photivihan temple is regarded as the most famous temple in the region since this wat houses one of the longest reclining Buddha in Southeast Asia. Start erected in 1973 and official completed in 1979, the construction cost of RM350,000 was derived from public donation as well as contributions from various Buddhist associations in Malaysia and Thailand. This temple is very popular with pilgrims and devotees. The magnificent reclining Buddha which measures 40 metres long, 11 metres high and 9 metres wide. . There are visitors who are surprised to see a temple of such size in Kelantan, approximately 13km from Kota Bharu . This statue of the Lord Buddha is believed to be one of the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. The Chief monk of the Wat was the man responsible for the architecture and design of the Wat. The cost of construction of the Wat was borne by the local Thai community besides donations from various bodies. The Thai festivals are celebrated annually at Wat Phothivihan Amongst them are the colourful Ketik Pasir Festival( usually on Wesak Day), the Songkran Festival in the fifth month of the Thai Calendar (usually in April) and the Loy Kratong Festival in November.
